The Yvonne L. K. Lui Trust was formed in 2013 as a unified platform for Dr. Lui’s philanthropic work within the community. A scientist and mother, Dr Lui emphasises the importance of science and education in alleviating poverty, supporting ecosystems that sustain jobs, and helping individuals to not only help themselves but the community around them.
The Hong Kong based Trust focuses on causes that count, those that make a difference locally, and those global issues that impact persons at home and abroad.
Yvonne collaborates with a wide range of NGO partners in an effort to benefit the lives of others. The Trust is a longstanding supporter of important causes and institutions, including medical research through the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, Fellowships at Conservation International and cultural education through the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
The Trust is a beginning, the groundwork from which one can reach out to the larger community to help construct or support the charitable efforts of others. The causes for which I have been privileged to be an ambassador are all represented, and I look forward to building upon the operations that we help sustain in coming years.

We have made remarkable advances in science, technology and medicine. But as the pace of change increases, we must not lose sight of the future. We need to be forward-thinking and consider the legacy we are leaving our children and their children. They deserve a world they can thrive in: a healthy planet, the chance to grow, learn, be creative and fulfill their potential. It’s not a choice – it’s our responsibility.
The Yvonne L. K. Lui Trust focuses on four main areas: conservation, public health, education, arts and culture.
Supporting initiatives in these fields can make the biggest difference to the lives of people and our planet.
Hong Kongers and humanity’s future are dependent on the health of the planet. We see the importance of supporting scientists and informing and educating the public about Conservation. We also support the greatest minds and programmes in the Hong Kong healthcare sector to provide the best medical expertise to the less fortunate amongst us.
Knowledge is wealth: it alleviates poverty and has the potential to transform the world as we know it. Education, be it traditional, or creative, provides individuals with hope and opportunities. A community’s success is based on its knowledge-sharing.
