Hong Kongers get on board!
The inaugural Hong Kong Sailors Race Against Plastic will take place on 8 December 2019. This noteworthy event will see boats depart from multiple yacht clubs across HK with the shared aim of collecting as much plastic as possible and completing a course ending with the prize ceremony at the RHKYC on Kellet Island. The event is the first of many to be rolled out in Asia with the organisers hoping to raise awareness of the need to recycle, and to preserve our waters. The ocean is already heavily polluted with plastic waste: unless we act now there will be more plastic items than fish in our waters by 2050!
